Week of April 16 updates

On Wednesday, the Senate Appropriations Committee agreed on their version of the budget for higher education institutions in Missouri. The Senate’s proposal mirrored the House version, restoring performance funding and the core funding for the UM System at $38M, totaling $408M. However, this version would fund the line items at 100% ($14.8M) but would keep them separate from the core budget. The House version would fund the line items at 60% ($8.4M) but roll them into the core budget. The Senate Appropriations Committee will continue to work on finalizing their version and any changes made will be taken to conference where the House and Senate will work together to determine a compromise.

Next week, members of the Kansas City delegation are invited to a lunch at Polsinelli Law Firm with the UMKC Trustees Government Relations Committee, the Alumni Governing Board members and other key leaders from the university to engage in an open dialog concerning the future of higher education in the state and at UMKC.
